Please click here to download our 2010 Education Day Program Schedule.

Broaden your student’s awareness of medieval history, architecture, music and society in a full day of ACTION-PACKED FUN, including a jousting tournament, continuous hands-on medieval workshops, music, dance, comedy acts and more!

All presentations and workshops offered during our Medieval Festival Education Program are not only designed to be grade and age level appropriate, they are also both educational and entertaining.  Home schoolers are welcome too.

Tickets must be purchased in advance by filling out our Student Ticket Booking Form and sending it to our Customer Service Unit.  PAYMENT MUST BE RECEIVED FOR TICKETS TO BE MAILED BY MAY 21/10.  Please note that the Education Day Program was sold out in 2009 and that we encourage teachers to book as soon as possible.  Please read on for more information on planning your trip:

  •  A student ticket includes entrance to the festival, all entertainment, workshops and the Heavy Armour Jousting Tournament.  Students may return on the weekend with their school ticket FREE OF CHARGE when accompanied by a paying adult.
  • Chaperones must supervise their students at all times.  There must be a minimum of one chaperone for every ten students.  A complete list of Education Program ticket prices are on the Student Ticket Booking Form, to be posted here soon.
  • Items sold at vendors’ booths are extra (however, some booths that normally carry high cost items may substitute other items to make the event more affordable for students).
  • Medieval games run by the Festival are FREE; vendor games are $1.   Camel rides (up to two children per ride) are $4 per child on Education Day.
  • Students are allowed to bring a packed lunch or they may purchase items from our food vendors.  Drinks are typically between $1 and $3 and food items between $2 and $5.
  • The festival is an outdoor event and will operate rain or shine from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  Educators and chaperones should monitor the weather and advise students to dress appropriately for any weather condition.  Tickets are non-refundable.
  • If the Medieval Festival Security has any issues with a student, the teacher will be notified immediately and the student will be escorted off the festival grounds.

Our Royal Court, artisans and other medieval characters will be available for interviews with students to discuss the daily lives of the medieval period.  Teachers are encouraged to assign students a project while they are in attendance at the festival, or to have them search out different characters and ask them questions related to their position in the shire.

Upon receipt of your completed Ticket Booking Form and full payment, we will send you a Registration Package, including your Pre-paid Tickets, an Educator Handbook and detailed Schedule of Activities for the day.  Each classroom will also be given a piece of Fabric in your Registration Package.  We encourage you to have your students design a pennant or banner with heraldry from your school or they can create their own design.  Please feel free to add pictures or other materials.  These banners will be on display for everyone to view and vote on throughout the festival.  The first place winner will be awarded a Gold Medal for their class.

Students and chaperones are encouraged to come dressed in costume!
